JavaScript

JavaScript is a feature of web browsers that MusicBrainz uses to make interactive web pages that can change their output without having to wait for the server to return a new page. It's used by the GuessCase and AdvancedRelationships features. You can also use it for "bookmarklets"--little bits of JavaScript that you can bookmark to perform simple tasks. The SearchToolsBookmarklets are useful examples of this.

Like many other stubs like this (a good part of them already gone), suggesting DeletedPage. This is rather uninformative and seems off-topic... Am I wrong about this one? -- dmppanda 19:28, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

  • It is off-topic, but if just write "JavaScript" in a page (for any reason) it'll get turned into a link to this page. It seems useful to just keep it here so we don't have random missing links. -- Bogdanb 00:31, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Note that, for all future development, MusicBrainz has standardized on JQuery as a Javascript framework. If you are using a browser which is not JQuery compatible ( FireFox 1.5+, Internet Explorer 6+, Safari 3+, Opera 9+), you may want to upgrade.
